I’m thinking about joining the rowing/crew team at my high school. It’s actually a club sport and they let everyone join as a novice.
I was born without a foot, so I have a prosthetic leg. I have my whole leg, down to where my ankle would be. Would rowing/crew be too hard for a person like me with a prosthetic leg?
What should I expect if I decide to join the team?
any info would help asap, thanks
I have three right now on my left hand (I row port) and I’m sweeping tomorrow for 3 miles and I’ve had crew every morning and afternoon for the last three weeks except for today and tomorrow is my first regatta and my hands hurt SO much! [no gloves allowed].
What should I do?
im interested in the crew (rowing) team for my school and they have a special freshman team so you can get started. What should i expect and how can i get ready for it?
Crew season in my school is starting next month and I’m wondering whether I will be good at it.
So my BMI is like 23
I’m 5 ft 8, 152 lbs
I have good upper body strength and when it comes to bench pressing, my max is around 130-140, which i can do 2 sets of 10. (I usually work with 120 lbs)
Seat Row – max 130 lbs 2 reps of 15 or 3 reps of 10
I have bad cardio though. I get exhausted after a 2.5 miles run (which took me appr. 20 minutes) and generally don’t work on cardio at all.
Is cardio important in crew and will upper body mass hinder rather than help me when it comes to crew?
Also, if my endurance isn’t that good, will it be a problem??
I plan on being on my HS rowing CLUB. So it’s not like a huge team thats competing or anything, they just row for fun.

So i know we are to wear spandex, but could you give me examples of clothing to wear
please tell me about the tops, bottoms, shoes, head-wear, etc that would be ideal for rowing during the summer season.
Thank You!
Inter house rowing is coming up soon at my school and, each quad scull crew needs to have two experienced rowers and two people with no rowing experience at all. In the last season I was in the A crew in a State Championship winning crew in bow seat and the other rower was in our school’s B Crew as a stroke. I think it would be better if I was stroke and put the other rower in either bow or two seat, The problem is that he hasn’t got great technique and splashes a lot. So I’m considering putting one of the new kids in bow and the other new kid in 3 seat so me and the other rower can be in front of the new people so they have someone to watch technique wise. I would prefer to stroke because of how much more experience I have and how much more I row. But I’m unsure on this, can I have some help?
